The wedding officiant was a very important role to fill for my wife and I. We wanted someone Christian, actually a leader of a church, not just someone who did weddings, someone with a personal connection to us, and the kicker was that we hadn’t been attending church consistently or really belonged to a church family either!
We had been searching for an officiant for months when I was talking about our wedding woes with some family over lunch. My Uncle Roger and Aunty Liane came to the rescue by reaching out to Anthony and Saun Galang, elders at the Oahu Church of Christ, that the Dequinas belong to and I’ve been around for most of my life. Personal connection? Check! Church leaders? Check!
And not only was Anthony willing to be our officiant. The couple also offered to do a marriage prep with us, which we loved. We met with Anthony and Saun through Zoom over the course of several weeks leading up to our wedding.
Everything we covered was rooted in scriptures and we used a faith based marriage insight program called Prepare Enrich. We got to evaluate ourselves as the kind of husband and wife we wanted to be based on Christian values.
We found our strengths and weaknesses and Anthony and Saun were able to personalize our remaining sessions to focus on the areas we wanted to work on. Working with a real Christian couple was key. They brought in real world life experience fortified with a plethora of marriage coaching certifications.
Anthony really got to know us during our marriage prep time together and it really showed in the ceremony where he was able to add many personal touches. It was evident that he put in lots of thought and preparation. We’ve fallen in love with the Galangs as well as the Oahu Church of Christ family and have been attending their church on Sundays ever since.

“Before my wife and I got married, we thought it was important to seek pre-marital counseling. Before my wife and I met, we had been in separate long term relationships that ultimately did not work out.
Wanting to learn from our past, we felt that it was important for us to assess ourselves, our relationship and find the tools and methods necessary to help us be successful in our marriage. We were referred to Anthony and Saun by a mutual friend and that was a turning point in our relationship.
Anthony provided us an outlet with which my wife and I could openly express our concerns and expectations for one another. He was impartial. He never picked sides or had an opinion that would favor one over another. He made no judgments, offering both sides the opportunity to speak honestly without repercussions.
He reassured us that neither one of us were perfect and that we needed to work together in order to have a long and satisfying relationship. My wife and I would leave sessions feeling an even greater appreciation for each other, and a clearer understanding of what our expectations were for one another.
We asked Anthony to be our wedding officiant. He performed a beautiful ceremony sharing with our friends and family our sessions and the growth he had seen from the two of us in such a short amount of time. It was absolutely perfect.
We had one more meeting together after our honeymoon. He felt that it was important to follow up with us. During this time we reiterated all the things we had talked about over the past few months. It’s safe to say that we are more confident than we have ever been.
To the engaged, the newlyweds and to the married couples in need of a revitalized relationship, I encourage you to hire Anthony and Saun as your relationship coach. You will not be disappointed with what they will not do to help you and your partner be successful in life and in love.”
